(​Even superheroes have to do their homework!

Please check your student's H.E.R.O. each evening. This is where you will find homework for the evening.

Students should always read for twenty minutes each evening. 

Students should also practice the multiplication facts on a daily basis. 

**Practice facts and read 20 minutes is to be completed on the "honor system." You do not need to document anything. Complete these two activities whenever and however your evening allows (in the car, at bedtime, flashcards, math game, etc.).

Spelling (see below) tests are every Friday (morning) unless otherwise noted. Students should spend time preparing for this test. The spelling words, choice menu (tic-tac-toe), and spelling tablet are housed in the H.E.R.O. binder. Please note, since Spelling is an oral test (and several other factors), it is not made up if a student misses it. If at all possible, please try to work around being absent on Friday mornings. Thanks.

Extra handwriting practice is always beneficial.

SPELLING - Our weekly routine:
**All assignments should be completed in the Spelling tablet. Use the back of the pages. Each assignment should be dated. Please work neatly!
Monday - Students will take the spelling pretest. Before the students leave for the day, they will be given their spelling words for the week.
Monday - Wednesday nights - Students will use those spelling words (in a page protector in the HERO) to complete THREE activities from the monthly spelling menu (in the same page protector in the HERO). ALL activities should be completed in your student's spelling tablet. This work will stay in your student's spelling tablet until Thursday morning.  As students unpack, their Spelling tablet is turned in to me for grading. Each student still has their Spelling words in the HERO to use for studying purposes that night.
Friday - Spelling test is given for all lists
The next Monday morning - the entire process repeats itself!
**Adjustment for short weeks:
No pretest will be given. Students will not have the challenge words on short weeks. The students will still complete three activities and the spelling tablet will be due on Friday (if we have a Monday off) instead of Thursday. If we have an unusual week with days off, I will give the date the tablet is due with the three completed activities. I *always* let the students know all details in class.
